TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

ColorMeld 5280 colorants are designed to give excellent color strength into a broad range of coating systems. ColorMeld 5280 combines maximum pigment loading with a high quality unsaturated, low molecular weight polyester resin to deliver excellent color strength, lightfastness and pigment resistance. ColorMeld 5280 is also free of any reactive diluents or solvents, and also provides additional qualities with its cross-linking abilities. The unsaturation allows for cross-linking with peroxide-cured polyesters and melamines. Cross-linking can also occur in amine cured epoxy systems via the acid end groups. Additionally, the ColorMeld 5280’s resin can crosslink with polyisocyanates with the aid of secondary hydroxyl groups.

ColorMeld 5280 contains no heavy metals or chromates.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Coating performance is directly related to the quality and degree of surface preparation. Prior to overcoating, all surfaces must be clean, dry, undamaged, and free of all contaminants. For more specific information, consult the surface preparation section contained in the Application instructions.
